Has anyone had this before? You put the plastic tool on to unscrew the pedal leaving the bearing shaft in the tool, but the pedal doesn’t come away from the shaft – it just keeps turning in the tool. Any solution or is the pedal shagged?

Try putting pedal back on crank as it is and pull! Should come off fairly easily.

Never had that. Don’t see how re attaching it would help.

You do have the direction correct?

Did some the other day. Once unscrewed, should pull out. May need a bit of a tug.

Re attaching it to the crank makes it easier to pull the pedal body off the axle Al, the axle is still unscrewed from the body obviously.
There’s gotta be a knob gag in there somewhere!

Obviously im assuming the locking collar is unscrewing from the body. If its not then it may have broken off before the threads. This used to happen with the original (737?) spds and you basically had to melt the old collar out and replace with an alloy aftermarket collar. But i haven’t heard of them for years.

same thing happened to my 105 pedal last week.

bit of wd40 and lots of force, it gave after a bit of a fight

Cheers chaps. The locking collar unscrews (turns freely both directions) but the pedal body doesn’t move away from the axle as you’d expect. Was giving it a good old tug (2nd nob gag there for you) but body wasn’t budging. Will try pulling it off the crank now.

Still don’t get how the crank could help, given it’s not fixed to either part, but hey ho!

Sounds like the plastic locking collar is broken. No point trying to pull it at present.
Time for a heat gun
