I run a Royce BB. The lock rings are needed I believe. Royce stock replacements.

Yup you need the lockrings and also best fitted with a bit of threadlock too to stop that reverse unwinding thingy that Sheldon talks about

Mine haven’t even got any exposed threads to fit them on, and has caused no issues. Speak to Cliff at Royce and he’ll tell you that they aren’t necessary, if I remember correctly, he said they only fitted them to keep some customers happy.

Lock rings are optional depending on bb shell and bb width

The old Hope bottom bracket, and the TA one worked in the same way. I had both over the years and was fine without lockrings.

If you’re worried, threadlock would help, but I’d rather not use it (and never did) as it could make removing them a PITA!

Enjoy your bling ti loveliness 🙂
