Me and a mate wanna do a rods ride from the lakes up to the Scottish border somewhere and back just for the Craic, where is suitable to stay overnight? Just need a chippy and a b&b really but be better if it was somewhere nice! Is there somewhere that fits that description north of Carlisle around Gretna? Don’t really know the area, just must in SCOTLAND.

Plenty hotels & b&bs in Gretna

    Or http://www.daysinn.co.uk/hotels/united-kingdom/gretna-green/days-inn-gretna-green-m74/hotel-overview?cid=local

There is a back road up to Carlisle from Keswick with some cracking views of the Caldbeck Fells.
Take care on the old 74 from Carlisle to Gretna!
