I want to do it quickly on the road bike so no canal towpaths (nor bike paths I suspect).

A89 looks good, will I die under the wheels of an X6/uninsured Corsa?

The ‘classic’ 47 mile Pedal for Scotland route is more road bike friendly than it used to be. Uses mostly quiet roads through Kirkliston, Avonbridge and North Lanarkshire.

A89 is fine in my experience. The sustrans route is alright once you are out of the city but it considerably longer if memory serves me correctly.

Thanks. A89 looks like I don’t have to turn off/think which is ideal as I just want to get there.

A89 worked a treat. Downhill after Airdrie too!

I sincerely hope not, but more than likely.

How long did it take you? Considering a job move so biking back a day or so a week would be fun.

It does get a bit stop starty doesn’t it?

Off the tob of my head I can’t think of a better way but there probably is.

I guess I am luck as exiting Edinburgh on the Glasgow road has few stops.

the A79, easiest and fastest route for sure, but by god it’s a boring ride.
