I’m looking to replace a Shimano HG50 8-spd 13-26 with an 8spd MTB cassette with lower gears but not sure which one to get. The chain is a KMC Z-51 and in very good condition

Whatever ratio you want (bigger than 26 of course) presuming your mech can cope.

I’ve got an 8 speed SRAM cassette at home, never used. I’ll check the ratio for you if you want.

Al – it’s a Shimano 2300 rear mech. Will it have enough “reach” to move it up bigger cog?

SS cage should go up to 28 I think, GS bigger.
