  • removing/installing Shimano hydraulic brake cables
  • I’m trying to replace a dual control Shimano lever with a new one. How do I remove the brake cable from the old lever: I’ve unscrewed the nut, and I thought the cable could then be pulled out of the lever. However this doesn’t seem to be the case? The info from the Shimano tech instruction doesn’t suggest anything further holds the cable so I’m confused!

Does anyone know whether there is something else I need to do?

    thanks

Do you mean gear cable ? The brake thingy will be a hose…

if it IS the gear cable, you usually have to change gear and prod the cable (without the outer) till it emerges from the porthole

    sorry, yes hose 🙂

the hose will come away once the nut is undone, but you may have to pull quite hard if it’s stiff (oooh, er)
