  • Removing Alfine sprocket guide?

Just got back from an uber muddy ride that was the test ride for my Alfine hub.

Impressed with how the hub worked.

One downside was the plastic guide for the sprocket collected loads of mud. Claggy mud at that.

Despite a few minutes fettling I couldn’t clear the mud 🙁

    Can I remove the guide?

Excuse the laziness of asking here but th stoves on, coffee is hot and the cleaning of bike can wait till tomorrow. Hat and I cannot feel my fingers 😳

You can, how, I’m not sure, removing the sprocket needs snapping off a lockring, too scary for me, feel like I’m going to break something.

Teh sprockets come off really easily and I think the guide can be removed – I run sprockets without the guide

    Cheers TJ.

Are the sprockets themselves easy enough to remove then?

Yup – I did have a look for a guide online.

    As I remember –

    Remove the cable
remove the “casette joint” ( the shifter mech)
    Remove a plastic cover
    Remove a circlip
    sproket slides off

    Think its all on here

    I don’t get it…

You have an alfine why are you cleaning your bike? Do you have fox forks on there as well?

mleh, wait until it dries then knock it off with a brush.

Your’s looks a lot keener than my lazy 456 ebb, nice.

I did a video which is on the 18bikes YouTube channel (I’m on my phone so can’t be bothered to link) which should help with this
