I have a couple of raised red bite marks on my lower leg, I don’t think it is mosquito as when I have been abroad the mosquito bites have been more numerous and you can pop them. What could it be UK mosquito? I know little about biting bugs.

It could be a biting insect of some kind.

    (Bit of a broad question!)

I’d start by discounting sharks, aligators, crocodiles, wolves, bears, piranhas and honey badgers from your list.

I think you’re just left with fleas tbh!

If it’s an old Engish sheep dog may I suggest drowning it in a swimming pool of dulux paint?

Hmmm an MTB’er blaming dog for bites when fleas and many other biting insects live in the countryside. There are human fleas too….

Just found a tick on my arm.

Thought it was a spot, then I saw it had little legs.

Cycled to the pharmacy in record time. That’ll teach me to do the gardening.

Perhaps it was ticks. And they fell off.

Lower leg bites is almost certainly fleas. Despite their impressive ability to jump in relation to the size of their bodies, fleas can only jump a few inches. Therefore they tend not to land anywhere above your knee. Mosquitoes and midges will bite all over your body, and often concentrate on the upper parts.

Fleas it is- but not from the dog (why would they leave their warm safe environment on the dog to move elsewhere?) The fleas are newly emerging from eggs that are scattered in the environment and probably came came from the carpet in your mates house- not pleasant but true!
