found a cd i was given some time ago by some friends.its a norweigen pianist called bruce someting or other. well it really not my usual bag but its actually really nice to listen too when unwinding. its the kind of piano you would get in a really huge swanky hotel bar.mood music i guess you could call it.
anyhow got me to thinking can anyone else recommend some other relaxing stuff?? doesnt have to be piano, can be anything from classical to full on chillout room stuff to chantting to whatever..
enlighten me!!

+1 for KLF
I have the original CD from the 90s... I'm surprised it doesn't have a groove etched into it.

Ludovico Einaudi - Contemporary (i.e. still alive) classical Italian composer / pianist. Best served through headphones whilst reclining with a fine malt. Gloriously relaxing experience.

Mahler - Symphony No. 5 Adagietto
Shostakovich - Piano Concerto No.2 Andante
Manuel Gottsching - E2 E4
Harold Budd & Brian Eno - Ambient 2 The Plateau Of Mirror
Sigur Ros - ()
The Global Communication track above if it's 14"31
Peter Broderick - HomeI like early Low stuff as well, so much space around the notes. If you find it uplifting rather than depressing then the first 3 albums are sublime. Some examples:

Lots that fit this, depending on how ambient & dark you want to get. Try
Andrew Thomas "Between Buildings Trees"
Dakota Suite/Various "The Night Just Keeps Coming In"
Deaf Centre "Pale Ravine" (wish they'd record another)
Foehn "Hidden Camera Soundtrack"
William Basinski if you like long loop pieces.Posted 1 year ago # -

I've realised either Handel or Behemoth "Apostasy" do it for me, especielly when driving. Bear in mind, I almost fell asleep at the System of a Down/Sepultura/Slayer gig at Astoria, it was so relaxingly noisy

Terry Riley is ace, if a bit off the wall:

Steve Reich is similar, maybe a bit more regimented:

John Coltrane is really well-known in jazz circles, but his wife made some great records too. Some are noisy, some are just really lush sounding with lots of Indian instrumentation:

Raymond Scott wrote the music for a lot of the classic Warner Brothers cartoon like Bugs Bunny, but had a parallel life as an electronic composer. He made three records called "Soothing Sounds For Baby" that bear more than a passing resemblance to modern electronic stuff like the Global Communication track posted above:

Oh and I love this song, from the album that got me interested in electronic music, "Snivilisation" by Orbital:

How about Lifeforms by Future Sound Of London? It's genius. Or Lamb, also pretty chilled.
