Feeling the cold in my old age. After a warm jacket for dog walking … something light that I can pop on over a t-shirt rather than lots of layering. I tend to run quite hot so don't want anything too extreme. Not too worried about waterproof.

Any recos of brands / types to look for.

    Rab.
worth every penny. mine is about 12years old now and the down still maintains it's 'loft'.
get mine cleaned at that specialist place in sheffield never in the washing machine. when it finally gives up i'm buying another one.
was expensive at the time but probably the best bit of outdoor kit i have bought. a mate has the alpine one with the box wall construction. his is still going and is of a similar age.

HIGHLY recommend the Finisterre kit linked to above. Done some work with them in the past and have a lot of their kit – it's all the best technical kit yet cut well enough that it looks pretty good too.

I've had my mountain hardware primaloft for about 6 years now, still great and my most worn jacket by some margin.

    I'd recommend a pile jacket/shirt like a buffalo.
Better in the wet, less bulky, really comfy and more durable (all IMO of course). These are supposed to be worn close to the body so don't buy one which is baggy. I love mine, couldn't do without it. Instant morale when it's wet and cold.

The Alpkit jackets are great but be aware that they're very warm.
