Long story short …. the front of our cottage has conservation restrictions. We want to rebuild a boundary wall but council are playing silly buggers.

We can however replace the crappy trellis boundary fence with a natural boundary e.g. a hedge.

Looking for something not too bushy that can be trained for a section that I don’t want to dig out.

Approximate length needed is about a cars length.

    Can anyone help?

Planted a mixture of native hawthorn and hornbeam out front a few years ago. It looks lovely when the hawthorn is in bloom and is alive with birdies and insects.

Bet on Rooney to finish to scorer offset by city to win the league. If 1 doesn’t happen then 2 comes in to play.

Does beech not have really deep routes? Don’t want anything too sturdy!

Dudle – Can/could the hedge be kept quite compact?

Liking the look of this comparable in cost to having a wall built which is a good thing.

Yes indeedy. I trim it once a year and keep it about 4ft high and 3ft wide (it was planted in 2 rows). It is very manageable and not terribly fast growing
