Just looking for a quick check on peoples opinion on this one…

Just back from not the greatest day out on the bike today as my new (less than a year / less than 200 mile old) tyres have had a issue.

The steel bead has spilt away from the tyre for about 3 inches on the rear tyre and the front one is looking a bit dodgy. The tyres are specialised Borough CX tyres with the armadillo protection and were bought direct from a specialised retailer. They have not been mistreated / over or under inflated.

Should I be thinking of taking them back and getting them swapped or just absorb the loss and buy tyres with proper puncture protection anyway?

    Cheers,

    David.

the questions i would ask, how old? how has it been stored, any rim damage.

It can’t hurt to ask as it does seem a little on the short side and a company like specialized are probably one of the more likely to offer assistance.

As for life i would recon on a few thousand miles on the average road tyre before they wore out and i would hope the bead lasted that whole time without an issue.
