Cynic-al what’s stupid about the 15mm standard? It’s an alternative to the 20mm axle and the implementation of it is very, very slick.

Just because 20mm has been around for longer doesn’t make it right for everyone and with the amount of different axle fastening methods for 20mm that exist, it is certainly far from being a perfect standard itself.

Personally I like to have the option to choose.

It is a PITA though that Fox didn’t use a maxle-compatible system. Ofc if it was SRAM that stopped them doing it then not Fox’s fault :p

At the risk of reopening a very old debate, it would have been a lot easier for us as consumers if there was a QR standard and a 20mm bolt though standard, as that would mean the same hub no matter what sort of bolt through fork you happen to buy. That’s why 15mm is stupid. Fox could have come up with a 20mm design that was as slick as the 15mm version without making life more difficult for consumers.

The problem with the cycle industry is that there are no real interchangeble standards that everyone agrees to stick to, which can make repalcement of worn parts a much more expensive exercise than it needs to be.

Yep, you can make a 20mm hub/wheel combination plenty light enough if you want to. 15mm is all about market segmentation in my opinion.

annoying as it is it does kinda make sense, there has to be a way of showing that the lighter 150mm travel bolt through 32mm forks are not intended for the same use as the 36mm range of forks.
