Paypal/debit card query. Anyone help?

I'm trying to make a payment via paypal. I've a verified account so any funds go straight out of my bank account. Initially they wouldn't make the transfer because they say that my bank account had expired. Stoopid, but that's Paypal. What they meant was that my debit card details have expired, and I had to enter my new card.

Unfortunately my new debit card is a Visa debit card, and they won't accept this as a debit card, but only as a credit card with charges. When I removed the card they now won't make payments for 5 days, and are holding the payment pending. There's no way to cancel the payment, and The recipient can't get his money.

Anyone know what to do?

I have had an issue with paypal this weekend actually. I managed to sort it by adding another card. They wouldn't pay from my bank account (even though the money is in there) and I had to use a debit card which is for the same account!
Give them a ring and see what they can do for you.
Just recieved a payment from a buyer that I had to open an unpaid item and they have paid through a paypal e-cheque. I hate those things.

Unfortunately my Switch debit card has expired, and been replaced with a Visa debit card. Paypal say that as it's under the Visa banner it must be a credit card. They don't seem to have been told of the new system and won't accept that debit cards can be issued under the Visa banner. They are making my payment by e-cheque. Fortunately the seller is being very good about it, but it will take till next Thursday to clear!!!

Everyone is going to have their Switch cards withdrawn and replaced by Visa debit cards, so there's going to be a lot of problems.

Once this payment has gone through that will be it with Paypal; if I can't make immediate payments without charge there seems to be no good reason to use the system.

I too had an issue with Paypal saying my account was out of funds-nearly crapped myself as there was over a grand of leeway! I then had to register a card that they made me unregister as it was up to its anti fraud limits-all very confusing, geusee ity just means I pay for a lot of stuff online via paypal.

i have a visa debit card too, registered with paypal as a debit card with no issues at all.

How did you do that? When I entered the details they said the number was in the credit card number range, and would be treated as such. I couldn't enter it as a debit card at all.

You have to enter it under a different type, for some obscure reason I've never figured out. I think it's a Delta card.

i can't remember, it was a few years ago when i set it up and i had to change the card number last year when i got a renewal card through; didn't have any problems doing that. but i've just checked and it seems it is actually registered as a credit card! hmm. sorry about that, i use bank funding though so i don't get charged cos i never use the card to pay.

I use bank funding, but when I put the card number in the only way they'd let me they wanted to charge me.

I'll try the Delta card route and see what happens.
