Had a look in Merlin and saw it's a decent reduction. I appreciate all the info is available on Park site and elsewhere but would it make a decent present for someone getting into biking?

It's OK - I've not got any of the other ones to compare it with, but it is pretty thorough and detailed, and I can take it into the garage which I can't do with their website!

Get an I-Pad............unless of course the website uses Flash.

Why would you want to be touching an iPad screen with dirty greasy fingers?
Worth it imo - much better than trying to use a laptop.

Got the Park one and Zinn and the Art of Mountain Bike Maintenance.
I'd actually go with the Zinn one. The Park one is good but a little too precise (Zinn has more real world/bodging stuff) and the whole "use your Park PRZ432 to turn your Park FV32 clockwise then check the tension with your Park TZ12" business gets a bit irritating...
Zinn also has a good wheel-building chapter, which isn't included in the Park book at all.
