Bit of a long shot, but always worth a try on STW.

I'm looking to put a rack on my Genesis Day One Cross bike that I use for commuting. Do you need a specific rack for Cross bikes or can you use any road/touring rack?

Anyone got any good recommendations, it's not going to need to take massive loads, just a laptop and some clothes?

    Thanks

I've got a Blackburn one on my Tricross. Just pick something that will work with 700c wheels. Don't worry about hub spacings as most racks will spring 5mm if needed.

Actually, the wife uses a Topeak one that the bag slides and clips to. She' never had any issues with that and it also spaces the rack out the clear the disc caliper (not all bikes need that though).

Does it have rack mounts at the dropouts and on the seat stays?
If so, its easy enough to fit any 'normal' rack.
If not, you'll need to use P-clips or a seat clamp with rack mounts etc.

    Craig,

Yeah, it's got tapped holes at the dropouts and on the seatstays.
