I've been using a Pamir Hypercracker for years to install and remove lockrings. It's small and light enough to be carried around for trailside emergencies and means I don't need to buy a chain whip.
Now, I've just got a new Hope Pro II based wheel and the Hypercracker won't fit over the collar that the QR goes through the middle of. I think trying to drill out the inside of the Hypercracker probably would get messy, so I'm looking for a similar tool that would fit. I don't want to lug a chain whip around the countryside!
The few options I've seen on http://pardo.net/bike/pic/fail-029/index.html seem pricey for what they are or prone to fail, so is there anyone out there with a reliable cheap option? If I had the welding equipment I'd make one myself, but I don't. Any suggestions welcome. Cheers.
