Old one packed up yesterday just in time for Xmas.
Blue Ray or normal, temped by former as we have lovefilm and they seem to be cheaper now..
We have an old Toshiba rear projection tv – monster thing.
No HDMI or whatever it is, separate R G B inputs I think.

Richer sounds saying no point in blue ray unless you buy new TV.
Any thoughts – I heard that Blue ray makes eve normal DVD’s look good.

    Cheers

A lot of DVD players do 'upscaling' to make them look better. I presume BluRay players do the same trick.

To be honest your telly isn't high def so you might not see a difference anyway, but probably no harm in getting a BluRay player for when the TV gets replaced. Though don't expect any improvement from your old DVD player with the RGB inputs…

I would get a blu ray player, they play DVD and upscale them as well of course as playing blu ray disks, its a no brainer.

I got conflicting advise from you at Richer Sounds, I was told to get a blu ray player and sound advise it has turned out as well.

    Sony BDPS350 linky thing

The Sony above for 5p less than £100 looks good for what you want.

    It has:

Upscaling, this improves the picture quality by increasing the number of lines.

Also component Output, this is the highest quality analogue video output and is ideal for older TVs.
