Can someone recommend a headset for a tapered head tube on a 2011 Five? I will be fitting a 1 1/8 straight steerer RS Pike, but will eventually be fitting a tapered Fox Float. Bit confusing with all these Zero stack/integral sets!

    Thanks

Give hope a buzz – they do a mix and match system and you can get a reducer top cup to reduce 1.5 to 1 1/8 and then a 1.5 bottom cup. They also make a shim that goes on your 1 1/8 steerer to make it fit 1.5 at the bottom cup. This way you could run with the shim with your current steerer then if you later get a tapered steerer you just dont use the shim and it’ll fit without needing to change headsets. Hopes website has a PDF under the headset bit which has pics and part numbers. Hope that all makes sense!

Go for the normal Hope Tapered headset, with the step-down adapter race fitted, when you get your new fork it’ll just be a case of slipping the crown race from one fork to the other, the adapter can stay on the old forks until you need to remove it.
