I hate throwing stuff out that is essentially still working but what can I do with an old Dell pentium 4.

It has the windows 2000 operating system and probably minimal RAM and by current standards tiny hard drive.

    Any ideas for a use??

+1 for web server, Running Linux few if any virus’s for Linux and there’s a server version which should stop any virus attacks anyway.

cheers all; i’ll have a look at web servering etc although it may well be more cost to upgrade all the bts required.

The PC’s too old to donate to Africa; apparently they want 5 yearsold or less :-0

still quite happily running a PC with a Pentium 4 processor. Granted on XP rather than 2000, but does me fine for browsing, email and even video editing

Do a fresh re-install of Windows, and donate the PC to someone.

Ah, the good old days when we partitioned one 800mb drive into 2 because they were so huuuuuge!

I have an old duffer like that stashed away in the kitchen/diner with a monitor on the worktop and a wireless keyboard. I use it for following recipies on line, internet radio etc etc still very useful.

I took mine to work, it was knackered, very slow, no USB ports working etc. We stripped it of most software and loaded it with music and now use it in the shop with an old amp and 4 speakers.
