Due a new office chair as mine has seen better days (ripped in multiple places). I’m reluctant to get a new chair as the recent ones that have arrived in the office are about as comfy as sitting on a bed of nails.

    Any recommendations?

There’s a decent trade in used office furniture on eBay you can even get a reasonable price on a herman miller. The proper stuff tends to wear very well and there’s places clearing out so you can pick up chairs nearly mint. Either that or find a good 2nd hand specialist locally, that way you can sit on a few.

    Giroflex G series.
I picked one up relatively cheaply on ebay.
There are usually plenty about from office clearances and they are a very comfortable chair.

I’m planning on getting a white leather Alfa Romeo drivers seat as an office chair. They go for about £150 on eBay

If you like what you’ve got ask them to refurbish it.

I’m on the same chair I’ve had here for years and had it recovered and serviced a few years ago, should save them a few quid and a happy employee win win

Just bought one for the office – about £200+vat and multi-adjustable plus goes high enough for my legs.

Also got a different one for home, wanted something lighter and more occasional use, £120.

    Both are decent.

+1 on the aerons but for home I use the sleeker rh4 that has all the adjustments one can need

    Herman Miller Aeron

Try before you buy, it may not be for you. Mine digs into the backs of my legs and will be replaced before long.

Was waiting for that suggestion. I’m still waiting for the justification as to their cost over everything else though in terms of standard office use for function and comfort. Worth it as a luxury chair perhaps yes, but most posts I read are everything else is rubbish and these are the only chairs worth having. Personally I’ve sat in many rubbish office chairs, but also many that were really quite nice, and they were half the price.

Edit: lol, tongue in cheek perhaps but sums up my feel about them. Though I can’t complain on the comfort really, but dead right they’re the chair “to have” in all trendy start ups. Maybe that’s why there are so many second hand ones about when they go bust 😉 http://www.dack.com/misc/aeron.html
