Made even more difficult by campag compatibility.

New cyclo-cross frame arrived and the seat tube is 28.6mm diameter. Old mech campag 32mm mech.

Thought fine, will shim the front mech using spare shimano shims on a campag front mech. that won’t work as the shims are the wrong size 35mm to 28mm.

    Now I could either

    a) beg the good folk of singletrack for some shims to reduce a 32mm band down to 28mm

    b) use it as an excuse for a new front mech and sell old one. As campag don’t do 28mm mechs anymore then I would need a braze on clamp and a braze on mechs.

Now for the numpty question. Will any braze on clamp fit any braze on mech? Or does it need to be campag compatible? I am guessing that any will fit any but before making my campag compatible nightmares even worse can anyone clarify?

    C) wrap the frame in electrical tape untill it’s the right diameter.

    Just pick a mathcing/contrasting/black tape.

Yes. I have a Record braze on mech attached to a shimano seat tube clamp, attached to my Merlin. It’s been fine for 6 years so far…
