It’s more of a lair…

I have just bought a flat in peebles. It needs some work. But the basement is potentially way more exciting.

3 mainrooms plus some aditional fritzl type areas. But only the first room is concrete floored the rest apoears to be bare earthed with building detritus and old doors making a “floor”.

It appears to be bone dry so what would people recommend as a stopgap flooring solution?

The bodies will mostly be under the concreted area, but probably some others under the old doors. Dare say the previous occupants didn’t have a chance to finish the job properly

Do you have issues with blood seeping from the walls?

No issues… infact I kind of like it.

I suspect the boddies are in the bricked up chimney breast…

Don’t worry, their decaying remains will bubble through eventually and confirm your suspicions.

Yes – we know this now.

Spend a weekend with a cement mixer and a wheelbarrow. Put down some DPM first, then give it a good 4 inches on top. Did this below my old flat, and worked a treat, cost a couple of hundred quid in materials and beer for mates to help with the work, and took 2 shifts.

That would require a fair bit of digging and I have other priorities at the moment unfortunately.

The earth is not bone dry, neither is it soaking or muddy and the wood on the floor doesn’t seem to be rotting I might dig it level and store everything off the floor

Flag stones on top of a couple of inches of sand?
