So there's a chance that you might see the Northern Lights over most of the country tonight. Anyone else heading out after dark for a gander?

i live in Norway and was gonna do so….but its **** lobbing it down and no sign of it stopping til sometime next year

Cloudy here. But I will have a look 🙂 If I had my bike I'd ride up the hill…

I'll stick my head out later but I doubt it will get dark enough to see much this far north.

i thought i saw something like a comet in the sky last night, must have been the northern lights?

There was something about it on BBC. Said about magnetic fields and stuff. Got bored. Read about something else instead. Want to see them though.

Northern lights will be a greenish glow.

Lauren Laverne was on about it on 6 music earlier. A quick google brings up news sites about it. Last night and tonight apparently.

I saw them years ago, must be nearly 20 years. Fantastic sight, our local weather forecast chappy was recommending going upto Kielder or somewhere for best views, I tried it with the other half as an excuse to go riding, but she wasn't having it I'm banned from the bike for a while.

Someone was telling me it was yesterday. If it is tonight – what time is it supposed to be best?

Its getting later – Granada weather report had said it was from 22:30 onwards yesterday. Still was too cloudy and orange to see anything where I was. Be good if there's a second chance tonight.

Thankfully the skies are clear up here in the central belt.

Fingers crossed we may see something.

However, there is loads of light pollution around so I doubt it 🙁

Still clear skies here in Sheffield. I'm heading out as soon as it gets dark – they are on all the time, it's just we can't see them in daylight!

It's worth googling for the video of the solar flare; something like solarwatch.com or something carries it. Very, very impressive.
