Undertacking a car turning left is never a good Idea. If the op was indicating and had clearly overtaken the cyclist, how is he in the wrong ?
If the OP had CLEARLY overtaken the cyclist why was the cyclist near his WING??? I have a suspicion that 350m is a slight exaggeration, probably more like 50 or 100m going by the normal behaviour of drivers.

When i turned left i had stopped - this allowed said cyclist to come up side of me (rear quarter) and start to turn on my inside as i turned also. How am i in the wrong? If someone can explain where it says a bike is allowed to be on the nearside of a car at a junction then so be it, if not, wtf am i supposed to do if someone has no self preservation skills or common sense?
I have a suspicion that cyclist watched car overtake and thought "what a nob. I bet he's turning left. I'll show him. I'll catch up with him once he starts slowing down for the turn and I'll be right next to him when he wants to turn, thus teaching him a lesson about overtaking roadies before turning left."
Regardless of how nobbish drivers can be, once the car is in front, the car has overtaken. You're then just another piece of traffic behind it and should act accordingly. That doesn't involve an illegal undertaking manoeuvre, even if you are feeling slightly piqued and can squeeze into the gap.

Both misjudged? The driver / rider changing direction from that position has responsibility of ensuring a clear path and not crossing a right of way, in the way. The bike in that situation has right of way to continue on their way. The driver has a duty of care to not to be anywhere near a bike on his inside when turning left.
Just because you've physically passed the bike by a few m doesn't mean you've made a safe overtake and can turn. If you force another road user to brake, you've made a bad move.
flying ox that is exactly what happened today - i overtook, and was parralel - he looked left and sprintel like fook when he saw a car coming in the opposite direction, what he was tying to achieve is beyond me (btw i was doing under 30mph in a built up area)

jameso. I'm not saying the driver is in the right, i'm saying the rider is a complete and utter retard if he witnesses the driver driving like a cock and still proceeds down the inside of the car as it's turning left. So yes, both misjudged.
i dont like road bikes, people should be honest about why they shave their legs, they would get a lot more respect that way

Yeah, I'm a bit confused how you overtook him 350m before a junction and then he managed to just appear by the side of you. He was either insanely fast in which case you misjudged things, or you're a bit off target about the distances and speeds involved.
I'm fully prepared to accept that there are plenty of crap cyclists out there, I see them all the time. But at the end of the day, if something goes wrong, the cyclist will die, not the person in the car. This incident will affect all involved severly including the driver of the car.
It might just be worth accepting that the car is not king, cyclists do move faster than people anticipate and if a cyclist who you thought was behind you, appears in front of you, you probably misjudged something. It's not a slapping offense, you're only human but try and learn from it. Anticipation is probably the finest skill a driver can possess. It save petrol, brake pads and of course, lives.

I think the OP has a perfectly reasonable complaint. Roadies don't want to ride on the road and abide by the rules, they want to use the roads to train on, which makes them competitive and keep pushing on. I followed a roadie on the A217 who jumped a series of about six sets of lights last week.....need I say more!

and just for balance whilst waiting at a set of red lights whilst out for a ride during the week i had three cars drive past me to jump the light, and whilst driving to work during the week i lost count of the number of drivers speeding, parked illegally, overtaking cyclists dangerously, using phones to text, using the wrong lanes on roundabouts, applying makeup.......
Back to the OP, are you saying you were stopped at a give way, are you saying that the cyclist was filtering up the side of you, you are aware of advanced stop lines? not saying there were any in this case but it is actually quite normal for cyclists to filter to the front of the queue. It is partly so the dozy makeup wielding phone using car drivers are aware of your presence.

You have changed your story to make it sound like you're correct, agree with others here; sounds like you just misjudged distances.
everyone knows that lots of road users break the law singling out roadies [ as if car drivers do not do the same or other road users] is slightly shortsighted.
I am also confused as to the story tbh but you can never just blame someone due to the mode of transport they were on be it a cycle or a car.
