I’m not even going to bother doing a “Performance and Photography” thread today. This thread has trumped it, good and proper.

    I bet he’s had some comedy SPD moments… 😉

Amazing stuff though. Sarah Storey, our first Paralympic gold medallist of this games, was a couple of years below me at school and was winning Paralympic swimming golds when I was in 6th Form. I’m now 38…

    How does that physically work?

Presumably his SPD is really tight so he can pull up as hard as he pushes down?

That’s pretty cool, would like to see a bike check. His left leg looks like it’s attached to the saddle. He looks a bit like eric cantona.

Yeah I think it is… if you watch the vid CaptF posted up you can see the “cradle”? on his warm up/cool down bike.

A nice bit of carbon fibre bling as it happens… but one I’ve not much interest in needing ta

Anything – if I put enough effort into it!

If there was just a photo of the guy you would look at him and think he’d be mad to take up competitive cycling as it would be so damn hard for him – but there is a photo of him riding a bike, probably faster than I could hope for – determination and effort can get seemingly impossible results.

Just remembered, I heard on R4 this morning that NBC, the main American Olympic broadcaster, are doing a 90 minute special on the Paralympics in the middle of September, including edited highlights of the openin and closing ceremonies.

That is the entirety of their coverage of the games. Nice.

GrahamS, I now hate you! You’ve put me in a quandary.

That was very funny. But I feel awful for laughing!
