Ok, so my 4 year old 130mm Dual Air Revs have had it, stantions are showing some signs of wear and the compression damping/lock out has stopped working, I could probably take them apart (again) but to be honest I fancy some new ones.

Obvious choice is a set of 2011 140mm Revs from On-One for £299, howevever these are QR and my hope hoops will take a 15 or 20mm through axle, which sounds nice.

So, I’m now thinking about a pair of sexy 2012 150mm RLT Dual Air Revs with 15mm axle, for 50quid more from Merlin, are these worth the extra?

What other options are there for £350 forks? Anyone know where I can find some 2012 Dual Air maxle lite with remote poploc for £350?

save a bit more and go for the dual position 120-150mm Revs

I ordered these yesterday, when paid by paypal at yesterdays rate it came to £238 delivered, interested to see how long it takes (5 days they reckon).

They can be easily switched between 150/140/130 too.

Few other options on that site too at good prices for ’11 kit.

Hmm, those Sektors look good (they are also flogging a set of 2012 dual position ones for EUR339

Trouble is I think I will need a firmer spring than standard (13 1/2 stone) and that’s another £50 quid.

ime i’ve ridden standard rs springs whilst my weight has gone between 13 and 15 stone and they’ve been fine.

I run 95-140mm pike coil u turns, there great forks.

Well, after checking mr karnali’s ad on the classifieds he reckons that the sping would be ok to up to 12 stone, so I’m at least going to have to factor in the possibility of having to spend another 50 quid on top of whatever a pair of Sektors will cost me.

I think I’m veering back towards Revs, either getting some 150mm ones and dropping them down 20mm (which should make them slightly stiffer too) or going for some dual position ones, if I can justify the spend….

If you can get a secondhand 2010 Revelation Team U-Turn with maxle light that could be the ideal fork.

Then you can tinker with the fork length from 120-150mm and you’ve got the best damping available for less than about a grand.

That’s what I have on my c456 and it’s perfect. Fixed travel 150mm version would also suit me OK though.

Dual position is nice but only if you never use the inbetween settings, 456 works at all settings really and is best allround somewhere in the middle so a fork that can do that is best really. And IMO there’s no real benefit to coil in these forks (Rev/Sektor), the dual-air is very nearly as responsive and much more tunable.

I’d be pretty happy with a fork set at 130, maybe 140, as that is what I’m used to, 150 would, I’m guessing make climbing less easy (with the Revs I have now which are 130s anything I can’t get up is down to me not the forks).

Might just take a punt on some 2012 Dual Airs RLTs from Merlin, £315 is pretty good value, and see how I get on with them at 150mm (lots of fun downhill I expect) and if climbing is ruined I can set them to 130.
