After all the questions ive been asking on here about suitable bikes for commuting on it was down to a 2012 specialized tricross or a 2013 baordman hybrid.
In the end I settled on this …………
I managed to find one at Halfords in Arbroath in the right size and went and had a look and a quick ride.
Not ridden it far just around the block but if feels very tight and very fast compared to my previous 26″ wheeled carrera subway.
I liked the look of the Tricross but as it was secondhand there was no warranty or comeback if anything went wrong. plus this was £50 cheaper.
Looks grand! Might want to check the tightness of various bolts & nuts, though.
<looks at forecast for next few days>
Mudguards?
Or is that why it’s in front of the washing machine?
Nice choice, my better half has had the girls version for a couple of years, and it’s dead good.
As you’re a commuter, you’ll need to know that you fit the front mudguard by putting one stay on the brake side only, the lower one and kink it around the caliper.
Sorry Ton, I got a bit impatient and just had to get a bike sorted !!
It looks like the front wheel is a mid life spec update, no idea why the fornt only was changed but I will be pulling stickers off eventually so not to fussed!
Setting up BB5’s. To get the caliper straight, I first extend the fixed piston out a little bit, loosen the caliper fixing bolts and then hold the brake lever. This gets the caliper straight with the disk. Hold the lever while you tighten the bolts back up. Quite often this is sufficient but you may need to loosen the fixed piston off a click or two.
The bike. Looks nice. Having the dishwasher that close to the door is a bad choice though.
