I am finally sick of my Formulas when they went AWOL on a muddy ride after seizing several times in recent weeks. So I want some new brakes that
1 Can be bled easily without having to buy a kit
2 Can be completely rebuilt with new seals pistons whatever when they do wear out
3 work with the normal brake fluid I keep in the garage for other vehicles
4 are well modulated and powerful
5 any lbs will have the pads
this sounds as if I am working towards Hopes but does anybody have any other suggestions?

I want to ditch my rear Hope mono M4 and go with Shimano Saints , had Hope on the last two bikes Ive owned and are feed up with them .
Leaking seals ,rubbing pads , uneven piston movement and sticking pistons .Posted 2 years ago # -
Shimanos don't need parts replacing, run on mineral oil and meet your other requirements.
Just picked up some new SLX for £100- so cheap too!

I second slx. While slightly heavy, they are the best brakes I have ever used, very powerful (NEVER more than one finger braking, even on 160mm rotors) with loads of modulation, and a great lever stroke, not mushy before they bite like formula (if that makes sense). And cos they're Shimano, they are ultra reliable

Hopes are great if you can service and maintain them well, Ive had M4's, Mono Mini's Tech's all from different vintages! bloody good brakes, Yes they fek up if you dont clean or maintain them... treat them nice and they are great
