Just built a new bike (Banshee Rune) using all new parts including new fork
The bike feels like the headset is too tight and giving the front end a gyroscopic effect, all parts have been checked and checked again and headset is fine
Any ideas? When up and rolling the bike handles OK
    The fork is Marzzochi 55CR

Tyre pressure? Might sound daft but some tyres go very self-steerey at certain pressures. Minion 2.5 is the one I had it with most recently but there’s others.

Head angle? Pretty very slack on the Rune, can take a bit of getting used to especially in corners.

    It’s hair pulling time
    Cables are OK
    Headset Installed correctly
Changed over the front wheel just to check and the steering was still the same
I can’t ride for more than a metre no handed without the gyro effect so it’s not the HA
I think it might be a faulty fork straight out of the box, going to borrow a friends to double check 🙁

Headset installed correctly – could still be faulty.

The more I look the more I think it’s the headset now too
It seems difficult to find the fine line between too loose and over tight
It’s a cane creek 40 I keep thinking I’ve missed something on install, the only thing is the crown race which looks seated but comes up when I take the headset apart ; would this little critter be the issue?

Front wheel and stem properly lined up? I know mine felt really horrible when it was out of line, even though it looked ok by eye.

Crown race should be tight enough to stay on the fork when you take the fork off. You sure it’s not the bit that goes up the top and preloads the top bearing?

Just check you haven’t missed either of the bearings out of the headset.

Had similar experience myself once, one of the bearings had fallen out in garage.

    Felt a bit daft.

Do headsets come with crown races? (boom tish)
