N-Gage Jump Stop - okay for middle ring?

Trying 1x9 out for the commuter/hack bike. Running middle ring with bash guard.

Will the Jump Stop thingy adjust far enough across to keep hold of a middle ring, or is it purely for looking after the inner ring?
