Staying in Kinlochbervie, in the far north west of Scotland for a week this summer. Can anyone advise about good trails up in the north west?
We have option of either road or mountain bikes, depending on whatever provides best opportunities.

    Any advice welcome, thanks

There was a thread not long ago on this, in fact I think there were two but one was definitely road based.

MTB wise, there’s the Arkle loop and a few tracks here and there, you can ride in to Sandwood bay which is worth doing for the location rather than the riding. A lot of estate tracks but linking them together to make a loop might involve quite a bit of road work.

Thanks, Sandwood Bay is a big attraction. So, riding there and perhaps on to Cape Wrath would be good (if rideable).

I usually do the Sandwood track in the evening and even then it can be busy. There is no track north of Sandwood to Cape Wrath. The Arkle loop is a good day out with some pushing in the middle but mostly bikeable.

Don’t even think about riding north from Sandwood Bay.

There’s a fairly hefty river crossing for a kick off.
