After MTBing since 1987, I eventually arrived at Mt. Tam on our recent trip to California.

It felt pretty weird seeing so many road cyclists ascend the roads and few MTBers on Mt. Tam….

Anyone else made the pilgrimage ?

The last guy from here who went there got guided by joe breeze and repackrider. Isn’t Mtb riding on there a bit restricted?

Oh yes – I’ve been (twice now) and I was lucky enough to have been guided by Charlie Kelly (absolute legend!) & Joe Breeze.

Did you take the ‘Repack’ back down to the bottom? Had to be done!

I am planning to get back yet again next year (hopefully).

Where else did you go? Did you manage to get any of the other places in…Downieville or Mammoth Mountain?

Yep I’ve ridden there a few times. I was rescued by Charlie Kelly and his mates, and Italspark and I went skinny dipping with Jacquie Phelan while the rangers back was turned.

    We rode Repack too.

There is a lot of good riding over towards Bolinas, Olema and Point Reyes Station. Speak to Ken Eichstaedt at the Bear Valley Inn in Olema, or Mike Varley at Balck Mountain Cycles, in Point Reyes Station for cheeky trail advice.
