Just doing a bit of day dreaming
One bike and money is unlimited
    What would you go for?
I’m struggling to think. Years ago I would have gone for a Yeti, but now I’m thinking maybe a Nicolai or a custom Jones

    Yeti? Good choice. I did.
Now two years old and I’m still overdrawn. But it is fast 😀

    One bike?

You REALLY are struggling to think… I’d need a whole double garage just for the storage space for the fleet I’d own if money were no object!

Something in titanium. Seven, IF, Merlin etc.
Carbon seatpost, bars, rims, a nice mix of carbon and XTR parts.

It would weigh less than a gnats fart and cost more than a divorce.

Well it would have to be a tandem. 🙂

Either the davinci symbiosis and hit the options list hard or the nicholai Both of these would be over £10 000 I think once you start going for it on the options

Mboy, it would be easy if I could choose a fleet of bikes, the tricky bit is choosing just one 😉

This week it is a Knolly Chilcotin [sic] with a full saint drive train pro2 hubs with 721 rims BOS forks RS reverb post straightline stem/guide/pedals and other bits ridewide bars. Not sure on the rest of the build but there isnt much more to choose anyway. Now who has £4k for me to spend on it?

custom ti or steel 29er, proper posh wheels, maybe single ring and and 9 or 10 at the back

oooh and a proper italian road bike as well 🙂

Of course if money really was no object I would do a load of courses and learn how to make my own frames/components and then buy the equipment for that and have a whole range of ache hardtails.

Mojo HD140 with BOS forks, XO 2×10 groupset and easton carbon wheels 🙂

TJ, how much would you expect to pay for the Nicolai frame

Seeing as most of us on here are in reality just XC mincers who believe we are hardcore, we’d mostly all still choose a completely overkill bike. 😀 .
So, considering I’m of average STW age and ability, something superlight with not much travel, but just enough travel to ease those aching limbs and to get me home with the minimum of excess weight and effort……. so mine’ll be a Santa Cruz Nomad Carbon with some huge Fox 36 forks on and phat expensive DT Swiss wheels.

scotman – I think the frame is over £5000 but I am not right sure for that one with the g box

The basic hardtail is around £3000 and the full sus &4000ish

Tehy are really custom builds tho I believe

I’d have a Ti custom build based on a Soul/Soda to fit me perfectly, take a longer fork for the rare days I’d want it, and be a touch lighter. Probably built by Litespeed, using their mega-manipulated new tubing. Apart from that I’d stick with xx, Traversees (or slightly more boutique DT/Stans wheels), a custom travel Fox Terralogic Talas and the usual Thomson/monkeylite combo. Unimaginative maybe, but it would do everything I wanted it to do better than any other single bike I can think of, and I wouldn’t even look that much of a nichemonger.

Them Soulcraft ‘s look nice, after seeing that video. After browsing through the FAQ’s I cant help think they’re a bit up themselves mind…

    “What tubing do you use…?”

We’ll tell you when we’ve built it.

    Can I come take a look ?

    Only if you’ve bought one.

    Whats the lead time ?

We’ll call you. Could be 3 months, could be 6.

bol – good call. But the benefit over a Soda would be…. marginally reduced weight? And Litespeed rather than Lynskey?

something similar to my ragley with its swapouts between gears , rohloff and SS

the ability to take a 29er fork occasionally would be nice – but unfiesable !

other than that my ragley td-1 was my money no object build (once i get the **** forks)
    * insert gratuitious overly posted image of it leaning on old vehicle ! – when ever im out on it im having too much fun to stop and take photos !

Niko – you’re right, very little point, and I’m very happy with my Soda. If money were no object at all though, I would probably experiment a bit.

And yes, maybe lynskey rather than litespeed, although I do love the way litespeed shape tubes – just not so much the frugly shapes they often weld them into.

Neil853 that’s almost my dream bike as well. Blur LT Carbon in white or black. X0 2×10 drivetrain plus some bling.

Carbon Nomads are going to be very popular if we all win the lotto.

I’d have one too, with XTR and lots of carbon bits.

It would either be a Carbon Nomad or a Ibis Mojo here, dripping with XT/X9 groupset, 36 Float forks and as much blue Hope kit as I can lay my hands on.

I couldn’t justify going the whole XX/XTR monty, even with a massive pot of cash so the money saved would be spent taking the missus away for a guilt assuaging weekend.

A titanium tourer (Enigma seem nice) with Ti rack and lots of shiny bits.
And a carbon Nomad for the commute… 😉
