Anyone got any suggestions for a cheap marinade?

Liquidise an onion with yougurt and vinegar. Marinade meat for an hour or two and stick on the BBQ.

Not a marinade, but I like to simmer a ham hock in ginger ale for an hour before covering it with honey and mustard and roasting it in foil. The liquor then makes a great basis for braising spare ribs.

grated ginger (lots) soy sauce and honey finely chopped chillis too if you want a bit of heat – this goes well with chicken, fish and big prawns too light for red meat
