The good -- it's REALLY easy to buy and install apps. There seems to be a good selection already, including a Mac version of Angry Birds...
The bad -- already spent £63...

I had a look a couple of hours ago- similar thought- too easy to spend money without thinking about it now.
Ooh, look, Aperture - $79 versus £179 for a copy with media. Keep wanting to buy it, and I don't even like the software.

I would have thought they would add it into the iTunes store... I'm glad they haven't. I hate iTunes.

yes - you need to update to OS X 10.6.6
A lot of apps are cheaper than the boxed versions - I already own Pixelmator and it is cheaper than I paid last year.
Will be interesting to see how many apps migrate from the iOS platform to OS X - you need to link against different Cocoa Frameworks and play around with the UI to match the different input devices but at least you already have all your code in the right dev environment. Could be a good time to own a Mac.

Looks a bit cobbled together in places, and the GUI isn't very consistent with other OS X apps, but it would seem to have potential. Nice discounts on Aperture etc, which makes some apps impulse buys.
I am slightly concerned by the centralisation of things through the App Store. I suspect that websites like macupdate and versiontracker (for Mac anyway) will fall by the wayside. This is a worry as they would support apps which Apple might reject (based on their stringent policies for accepting / rejecting iPhone apps etc).

I very much doubt that Versiontracker and Macupdate will disappear just because there are people who want to get hold of 'ware that doesn't meet App Store criteria. On iOS devices that means having to jailbreak, but not on OS X. I think a centralised store for 'ware is a long needed idea that can only make life easier for people but there's always a requirement for stuff outside of the norm

Some of the prices seem extremely low, for example the Realmacsoftware (Courier for 2.99£ when it is 20$ on the website) is near steals at those prices as is Aperture, maybe Lightroom will make it at 60% discount or something
