Good to see lots of good positive arguments on this thread. Definitely for Terry's view that you should have respect for those working on a contraflow, and stick to the limit.
Drove through the Carlisle works on Friday evening. Loads of people doing frankly silly speeds through them to save what only amounts to a minute or two added to their journey.
Generally find the A9 to be OK if you drive sensibly and try to avoid anyone who is driving a bit lairy. Not always possible though as mentioned above.
