The fact this thread has generated no reponses say a lot really.

I’ll say Applecross, can’t say I’d want to live there but its a stunningly beautiful place to visit. Feels like another world

    EDIT

I realise its now generated 1 response but you get my point!

Porlock, still a proper village, lovely surroundings, great riding and just enough work. BUT very little affordable housing.

South Downs – Eastbourne end. Great riding, Friston Forest, Beachy Head, nice pubs, Harvey’s Best and always seems to be sunny when I go.

North Devon maybe. In this house that I will own a third of one day… Easy access to Dartmoor, Exmoor, Gawton and Tavi Woods 😀

    Kendal, South Lakes.
I love the place, it’s a nice little town with a mix of local shops and the big chains, it’s easy access to the Lake District, it’s right on the West Coast mainline and near the M6 for easy transport, good mix of housing from huge posh mansions on the hills above it to (reasonably nice) council houses, there’s lots going on there and a good little community.
It’s also not as touristy as most of the rest of the Lakes, it’s not like Keswick or Ambleside which seem to contain mostly outdoor clothing shops.

    Brighton and Hove for me.

Like London only nicerer and with splashy bits.

(I may be biased as I live there).

Czech Republic – somewhere nr Olomouc in Moravia – went about 10 years ago – there were loads of hills and forests with an abundance of really good trails.

The locals were very friendly 😉 , beer was plentiful and it just seemed a really great place.
