Good call.
He used to ride around the woods near mine when I was younger, there's a cliff/drop thing he rode down once that we still call the JMC.
Great rider.

Aye, was a proper inspiration that man. Sadly missed. Always look out for the memorial on Woodhead.

Seems longer, early downhill pioneer, and a wonderful example of believing in yourself and going for your goal (a third place iirc) with every fibre of your body.

and the younger crowd are thinking whos he, sad
I think a lot of the younger crowd still know who he his, or have at least heard of him
threads like this make sure of that

Great rider but more importantly by all accounts, a really great bloke too. Always very sad to remember reading about his accident in the newspaper.

My copy of dirt got worn out
Like most of a certain age he was my inspiration and was a very sad day when I heard the news.
Posted 9 months ago # -
I would also like a copy on dvd!
Posted 9 months ago # -
you just have to look at that cover of Dirt to realise how cool he was (as well as being an incredible rider) I dreamed of being able to ride like him on that dirt vid.

That Specialized he rides in Dirt is cool as - looks just like loads of hardtails these days, but loads cooler of course.

I used to spend a lot of time in Hardisty Cycles in Stockton
me too! did he work there or something?
Posted 9 months ago # -
no he was sponsored by them before the sbc days
Posted 9 months ago # -
Was watching Danny Mcaskill on that tv programme where they created 4 extreme sports videos and thinking what JMC would've made of it.
Yep my copy of Dirt got knackered - so a DVD or .avi version would be fab
