Hello.
Can you please help me.
My daughter has outgrown her 20 inch wheel bmx and now wishes to move up to a 24 inch wheel bike.
Im looking for something mid range, up to the value of about £450 that will take her along trails as shes a bit of a tom boy.
Her only stipulation is that its blue!!!
After scouring the internet I have found these two bikes and wondered your thoughts on these two if you would be so kind please?

Willing to consider mountain/jump/24 inch wheel bmx
Considering something like this or DMR too

Thank you so much for your advice

The Specialized is quite heavy.

My daughter has;

Higher spec version;

It says blue / pink but really its blue with a very small amount of purple.

Either of those will be fine although the bouncy fork on the riprock may not be great.

Another couple of options below

(not blue)

Hoy Bonaly, in blue. My son has one of these and loves it, lightweight (9kg compared to the cube mentioned above at 12.5kg) and great fun.

Thank you for your replies so far
Blue is not a deal breaker so will consider all options. obviously the quality of the bike is priority.
Thank you

Consider the Pinnacle Kauri. 24" sized bike with 26" wheels. My daughter went straight to one from 20". Excellent bike too with hydro discs an WTB Nanos. And blue too.

A few things from my own experience, mostly obvious but here you go:

Lightweight kids bikes are great, whatever they might be. You should be looking under 10kg, IMHO, and if it's more than this, walk away - you can do better.[/*]

On a 24" wheel, front suspension might well be a good thing if the rider and terrain justify it, but it must be an air shock, otherwise it won't move under a very light rider and will be just dead weight. If riding on towpaths, forest trails etc. then a rigid bike may well do - it'll be lighter and cheaper.[/*]

Don't be scared of used bikes - plenty out there, often only very lightly used and sold very cheaply. Many groups on Facebook selling used bikes cheaper than on eBay, where fees and demand often push up the prices[/*]

Don't forgot to consider resale value as well as the initial purchase price (aka the Islabike argument) - often a more expensive bike might actually work out cheaper in the long run, if you can stomach the initial outlay[/*]

Look after it as well as you can - a well kept, well maintained bike will always be worth more as it can be given as a gift for xmas or birthday, whereas a battered one, while perhaps nearly as good, will be overlooked[/*]
Consider the Pinnacle Kauri

No longer available and at nearly 12kg quite a bit heavier than the Hoy Bonaly....

You could have a look at the Frog 62, weighs in at 9kg and comes in blue https://www.frogbikes.com/lightweight-kids-bikes/hybrid-bikes/frog62.aspx

Really impressed with Saracen MX 24, if you want a mountain bike for kids it's a great option - discs/fork overkill for just riding about, probably.

I think you might've been looking at the 2016 model?

2017 is available, 1 in stock in Cardiff.

Just bought my 8 year old a frog 62, having also recently got a Carrera Abyss 24” and have to say that the frog is streets ahead! It only weighs 9 and a bit kg and is fantastically made. Got ours second hand in great condition for £180 and would thoroughly recommend one

+1 for the Orbea MX Dirt - bought one recently for my 8 yo daughter from UK Bike Depot and it's well made, good spec and (more importantly) light. Did take a couple of weeks to be delivered though. And its available in blue

Agree. My son had a 24 inch Specialised Hotrock XC. My daughter has the Orbea MX Team (I think - the one with the Alu forks) Its a far better bike.

If the colour isn't a showstopper then how about a lovely islabike Creig 24 in green....

We've had one of these and they are a great bike - not especially light, but very capable indeed. IME, it's not the colour that puts people off, but the price tag, even used... 😉
