Not sure if it is real or not, but not sure why people think it is so unfeasible. I certainly think it could be real. Its a pretty simple thing in reality. 4 jet engines in line, no need for a ‘control system’ as such, just a system to make sure you’re getting equal thrust from all 4 engines and they respond the same for differing throttle control inputs. Flight control is provided by the pilot via weight shift – so no different to those water jet hover board things like the one going off in the background – which are real because i’ve seen them with my own eyes, and my dad had a go on one on holiday. Just needs a tremendous sense of balance – just like with Richard Brownings Rocket Man setup – except without requiring extraordinary physical ability.
The addition to HUD on the the Rocket Man setup is recent and is nothing to do with control -control is entirely manual – constant thrust, achieves lift and control entirely through balance and changing the vector of the thrust – raises off the ground by pulling his arms into his side to change the thrust vector to a more vertical position – he said in the Adam Savage video he tried varying the thrust but just too much going on for him to keep up with, so now keeps a constant thrust to simplify the control.
Combine this with Yves Rossy, the Jet Man setup and you’ve got a pretty interesting system.
