Do they think I'm stupid? I've just seen a tv advert for a hands-free
antibacterial soap dispenser. It's USP is that you don't need to touch a
button to dispense soap, as this is a place that dirt and germs collect.
WTF? You want soap cos you're hands are dirty, right? I don't get it 🙄 No,
more than that – it winds me right up 👿 Am I just not OCD enough?

    If only I had a shotgun……

This is what you get for watching TV at 4:35am.

The Daily Mail will have you for that.

Well rather ironically, the fact that it winds you up quite so badly suggests that perhaps you are a little OCD?

But apart from that, I think you're right, it's pretty desperate marketing.

My wife just bought one of those over my objections 🙂

It is a pain in the neck. Too much soap for most quick uses, and if you leave your hand under it too long you get a double dose, but if you remove too soon it keeps pumping the soap out.

    Don't buy it.

When has the fact that something is pointless ever stopped people from buying it?

Erm, me, every time. Who are these people? Why do they buy sh1t? Can I just have their money? Are they allowed to procreate?

Yes, just when you thought washing up liquid technology had reached some sort of utopia, they come up with a formula that cleans more plates and uses less liquid. 😆 What will the egg-heads come up with next?

I not saying every sane person goes out and buy's this sort of crap, but I' saying there is clearly enough of a market to sustain these companies. The prolification of plug-in air fresheners should tell you that. I'm pretty sure that 10 years ago, everyones houses didn't smell of shit.

My missus liked the look of that daft gadget

I just mentioned how I could dangle my cobblers under it rather than just using the bar of soap

so there's a battery, a proximity detector and a pump that you throw away ??

Throwing it away is optional – I think the idea is to refill it and throw away the refill. I think you're one of those people sfb, aren't you?

    stumpy01

sfb you can throw it away if you want. Most people will probably just fill it back up again.

    You're soooo extravagant. 😉

I like the convenience of one of those pump action dispensers, can't have soap as it won't stay on the bathroom sink. I read an article once where they tested all those pump dispensers and sprays against normal soap and water, swabbed peoples hands afterwards (they has to handle a variety of things beforehand) and did something in a Petri dish to see what was left on the hands. The soap and water was by far the most effective at killing the germs, and by far the cheapest.
And think about it, what do surgeons still use to clean their hands with??

What these marketing bankers have yet to work out.
You turn on the tap with the germ/bacteria covered hands, wash hands with their anti-bacterial soap from the no touch dispenser. You then turn off the tap picking up all those germs/bacteria you deposited when you turned the tap on..
