    Can I run a 10 speed xt crank with 9 speed chain and shifters? (need a new crank and found one for a good price)

    I am also a bit confused about this, but the other way round. Can I run a 10 speed cassette with a 9 speed XT mech and Truvativ Stylo 9 speed cranks. Do I need to change the chain? I’ve worked it out for the shifters.

    The rings are slightly closer together on Shimano 10sp chainsets, so I would stick to 9sp if it were me.
