… is it O.K. to like Joss Stone, these days?

I thought she was alright in The Tudors.

    HTH.

To look at Yes, otherwise No. HTH.

Edit: On a similar note I feel dirty today as I’ve bought Noel Gallagher’s new album and I actually quite like it. Can’t believe I’m admitting that on an open forum. 😯

Good point emsz. I guess this would be a good time to profess my love of the music of the awesomeness that is the Vengaboys.

Glad you agree sweepy – You’re clearly a man/woman of taste. Shall we form the STW chapter of the Vengaboys appreciation society?

Well I just heard her single on the wireless receiving device. Not sure what it’s called, something about “Don’t lie to me again” or somesuch..

I thought: interesting vocal style, good band, probably sounds good on a real HiFi (such as the one in my lounge. Which I may have already mentioned. Ahem.) and could be worth further investigation.

Don’t quite get why it’s “Faux” anything though…

Anyone who’s from Devon yet speaks with a cringeworthy, put-on Los Angeles accent needs a right good slap with a wet fish. A big one! Maybe even a whole salmon. But at the very least, a fair sized haddock.

This could have been specifically written with her in mind:

So in answer to the original question: NO! It isn’t! Now go to your room and have a think about what it is you’ve just done!

emsz – you’re welcome though surely ‘The Venga Bus’ should be the head tune of choice 😉

    Think I might buy it.

I think you should, MrW – the Venga Boys are available at most good retailers and many online mp3 sites.

Mind you, I quite like Jessie J’s “Price Tag” and I bet that’s not her “home” accent.

Or should I also spurn her for not being “genuine” (whatever that is)?

    Lifer

No you should spurn her for being just awful.

Spotify advert came on once ‘”It’s not about the uh-oh cha-ching cha-ching, it’s not about the price tag, just wanna make the world dance” – Hi this is Jessie J, pick up my new single Price Tag only 79p on itunes’

    Brilliant.

Interesting (in the loosest sense of the word) fact, the first Vengaboys single was played as an exclusive first play by Pete Tong on Radio 1. At the time they were attempting to be a semi-serious dance act.

emsz – doesn’t take that much thinking!

I just love PJ Harvey, Beth Gibbons, Beth Orton, Tori Amos etc. Two of the most astounding gigs I’ve been to were Portishead @ Hammersmith and PJ Harvey solo @ Camp Bestival.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention – you’re clearly a Vengboys fan too. It’s a shame they never got the attention that they deserved as a serious dance act 😉

I have no problem with the campness at all, it’s just, well, shit.

Both killed due to a drunk driver. Both had young children. 🙁

Portishead once and PJ Harvey twice.

Saw PJ Harvey at Reading once and headline at Camp Bestival where it was just her and a load of different instruments:

Never knew that. I thought they just faded away because they were, as you say, a bit useless. Sad they were wiped out by a thoughtless fool.
