Mine is 8 month pregnant, so has her stomach just below her chin at the moment. She makes a noise like Mr Cadburys Parrot almost constantly. It’s a fine source of amusement for us both 😀

They reckon the only real cure is anal massage 😐

The choking seemed to work well, not sure what to do with the body now though ?

NB I haven’t actually murdered my wife although close

A scare works. Although it has to be a PROPER scare, which is not pleasant.

Something like going into the kitchen and screaming “**** the kitchen’s on fire”! as earnestly as you can would probably do it, but the consequences will probably be worse than the hiccups 🙂

I explained that trick to my sister (seems to be the most successful of the non scary remedies btw) and she just didn’t get it. She picked up the glass, noted the side away from her lips and then turned the glass round to drink from that point.

    D’oh!

My mate has a remedy that worked for me and he swears by it. Breathe in as hard/long as you can, hold breath for about 5 secs, breathe in again, hold for about 5 secs, breathe in again (tends to be rather difficult) and hold for 10 secs. Breathe normally again. Don’t breath out between the breathing in bits. He reckons it reseats the diaphragm.

I was always given a spoonful of sugar covered in vinegar – seemd to work, strangely addictive taste……

chvck, similar but more effective (first time anyway) tell her to take a really big breath and hold it. Then count the seconds, making it sound like you are counting for a reason but just keep counting until she can’t hold it any more. Won’t work next time she has hiccups as she’ll know what you are doing…

Quite glad that Kuko’s anal massage post came in before the “what do I do with the body” post… 😡

The deep breath, then more, then more breath; and the wrong side of the glass thing seem to be consistent with stretching the diaphragm – I think it’s spasming of the diaphragm that causes the hiccups.

Odd fact – I’ve not had hiccups for about 10 years I think. Weird

I once had hic-ups for 8 days…. it was utterly exhausting and made me shockingly ill.

the problem turned out to be indegestion/trapped wind…. May need to see your GP if it goes on too long.
