Help i’ve tried a few pairs of gloves over they years and most just split at the seems – Endura really bad , Sombrio bad , Troy Lee again split .
So is it just me having bad luck or are most crap , if you can recommend some good ones i’d be very greatfull

TBF, my TLD XC gloves were, and still are my favourite. So much so that my lbs has just ordered me another 2 pairs.

Haven’t had the issue with them splitting at the seams.

BTW, how old are these gloves and how much riding have they had on them when they start to split?

I rate Specialized BG Ridge. The palms wore through my last ones before the seams split!

after less than ten rides but i always seem to get them from shops while riding away from home so carnt go back

Avoid Giro gloves… mine started falling apart almost immediately!

Yep, another vote for Spesh gloves…Only make I own now and I’ve tried others (Endura Singletrack gloves stand out as the worst full fingered gloves I’ve owned).

Gore free ride are really good and hard wearing. I’ve had a set for 3 years and they’re still going strong. £34.99 a pair but worth it in the long run.

i only use troy lee’s only replaced when lost, they never seem to fall apart.

Fox last well usually… Well, not sure how long really, my first pair of sidewinders pulled some threads in a big crash but I’m still using them for commuting, my second pair is good as new after a year

Giro glove are truly the shittiest gloves ever, S/O tights have better mesh than the crap they make Giro gloves from.

Simple answer. Don’t buy bike gloves. Dinghy sailing gloves are cheaper, have proper leather palms and come in a variety of warmth from short finger ones to neoprene backed long finger ones for winter. When they get dirty just go sailing and they get cleaned.

I also rate Troy Lee gloves, I have also had a pair of Fox Sidewinders that lasted well but seem to go very stiff when washed wehreas the troy lee are comfortable all the time.
Do you have reasonably short finger nails and are you buying them big enough in the first place? Both are factors in premature golve failure as is crashing in them often or moving prickly bushes out the way.

Spesh Ridge here as well, TLD whilst comfortable don’t breathe well and are surprisingly fragile.

Dakine gloves get my vote well made and hard waring…..

Altura last ages for me. Troy Lee gloves stitching came apart on the first ride, rubbish.

Giro gave me a couple of pairs to try, very comfy, but jst not as good as my Troy Lees.

Spech Ridge +1. don’t put them in a machine wash though – all the elastic comes out the seams after a few dozen 40 deg washes…..

+2 for Dakine. I ended up purchasing a pair as I had left my SixSixOnes at home. I haven’t used the SixSixOnes since.

never used cycle specific gloves, moto x gloves bought cheaply off ebay last for ages. any decent make such as alpinestars, thor, progrip etc will do the job.

the ones i use (dakine covert) are 15 quid

Fox Attacks, used for the last year or so for riding and racing, held up tough as nails. One piece palm/finger panel too…

Specialized for me too. Their summer and winter gloves fit and last well, and LBSs seem to have loads of margin on them too, so very good value at regulars rates.

Specialised here too. I’ve worn a pair of mitts for a 20 mile each way commute for the last 4 years. Probably worn them around 6 months of the year so done at least 12,000 miles in them. The pads have come out on one palm and the stitching has come away slightly at one cuff but they still feel great to wear and I can’t bear to part with them.

By far the best summer xc gloves are oakley factory pilot. Ive had 661 tld xc and gore. 4 comfort & durability u wont beat oakley. £12.99 on crc at moment

For xc I use Specialized, seem to last ages plus they fit my hands well unlike some iv’e tried.

I’ll try specialized then. I go through gloves very quickly, tried most of the brands quoted above. My latest pair which are 661’s lasted all of two months.

Had the same set of Fox Sidewinders for the last 6 years and the palms have only just started to wear out. I’ll be buying another pair, great kit.

I’ve got two pairs of Fox Inclines – class gloves. Lasted ages.

661 Raji, bought 2 pairs of 2010 cheap off crc, so I alternate them. they get washed after every ride still going strong after a year

+1 for fox had mine goin on 3 years now and there great.

I might give those Mechanix ones a go for my next pair.
