My Rebas are 2 years old now, ridden every weekday and some others, in gritty lightweight XC conditions whatever the weather. That's probably 600 hours riding. All I do is clean and lube the stanchions every few rides. They'll still go 6 months and need no pumping up, and they feel perfectly smooth. The manual says service them at at 100 hours. So I've gone six times that now. What's the benefit in me spending £25 on seals, more on oil, and a couple of hours messing about when they seem just fine? I can't believe they are short of oil unless the seals dry up and leak air - and then surely I'd just replace the seals?
- What's likely to be going wrong inside there? We must have lots of other fork neglecters on this forum. Do I really need to do something?
