I have a second hand GT Peace 9r. It currently has a bolted on rear wheel. I would like to change it to QR.

Do I change the axle or saw it down?

Does the axle have a hole through the middle?

Could you confirm if it does?

I can confirm the axle has a hole through the middle.

then place a qr through that hole and attach to your bike using that
NB rear QR is longer than Front

    I don’t think it’s as easy as that…

It’s 135mm spacing between the drop outs. The axle is nearly twenty mm on top of that at either end.

if its a simple cup and cone setup u just need a rear qr axle and qr job done if its cartridge i may juat have to lop 20mm of each side of the axle but thats if thers not to much give with the qr though the axle.

Keep ye olde nut set-up. On my ss it means I can run it without a tensioner.
