I have a 32-12 currently but need to use a 16, 17 or 18 when I singlespeed the commute. Is there a way to work out the equivalent needed chainring?

    You're all awesome.

Yes; gear ratio, in inches, = chainring teeth number / rear sprocket number x 27

    so currently you are running a 32/12 x 27 gear, ie 72 "; if you opt for a 16t sprocket then you need a 42.67 tooth ring, lets say 42T for simplicity; 17 T and you need a 45. 33, ie 45 T……. 😐
