Agreed - cold water works perfectly*.
Add soap and/or hot water and you are fooked.
*Don't ask me (or my then girlfriend) how we know that

Cheers for all the helpful advice. Cold water, vanish spray and my toothbrush have done a pretty good job. Next thing was going to be a garlic and acid mix...
